Saving your work

Microsoft Expression Design saves documents in its native .design file format. You can also export your artwork in a variety of other formats, such as XAML or JPEG , but these file formats do not maintain the full editability of your file and the images are often degraded slightly in these formats. Therefore, you should always save at least one copy of your work in the Expression Design file format (with the .design file name extension).

To save your document, click Save on the File menu (or press CTRL+S). If your file is being saved for the first time, a dialog box opens. Type the file name in the folder you want, and then click the Save button.

To save your document with a new name, click Save As on the File menu. In the dialog box that appears, type a new name, choose the folder in which you want to save the file, and then click the Save button.

If you want to save a copy of the current state of the document to disk without affecting the document you have open, choose Save a Copy on the File menu.

When you attempt to close a document without first saving it, Expression Design will ask you if you want to save it before closing.
